Jean Henrietta Schmidt Hemenway Barringer , 99, of Parkersburg, went to be with her Lord and Savior on July 20, 2018 at Worthington Manor. Jean Schmidt was born on February 20, 1919 in Akron, OH and was the daughter of Charles Ray and Pearl Ruth Stout Schmidt. She was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church of Parkersburg and enjoyed teaching Sunday School.

She was a licensed practical nurse at the former St. Joseph’s Hospital until retirement when she started private duty nursing. She was a member of the Foster Grand Mothers at Parkersburg Day Nursery in the 80s and 90s, where she received an award from the Foster Grandparents Association. Jean is survived by her son Richard Norman Hemenway (Carlene) of Belpre, her daughter in law Iris Hemenway of Belpre, grandson Rodney Lee Blanchard (Patty) of Mineral Wells who lived with her throughout his childhood along with six other grandchildren, thirteen grandchildren, eighteen great great grandchildren, Doug Hemenway (Lisa), Courtney and Zachary Hemenway.

Stephanie Parsons (Jason), Levi and Caleb Bennett, Sawyer and Wesley Parsons, Andrew Blanchard (Hannah) Ashton & Luca Blanchard, Bethany Knowlton (Sam), Kim Bermudez (Rory), Kobe Bermudez, Billy Deem (Mandy) and Owen, Jessica Osborne, Harleigh, Kyleigh and Kennedy, Suzanne Balachowski (Mark), Trasia Wiley (Matt), Godric, Adalynn and Cora Wiley, Cassie Brown (Steve), RJ & Parker, Czyrny, Johnathon Brown, Peggy Novak (Jim), Ashley and Megan Novak, Charlene Ross, James, Angel and Michael Ross, Richard Hemenway, Jr,(Thuy Le and Thy Hien Hemenway In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband Norman N. Hemenway, second husband Eugene Barringer, son Leslie Raymond Hemenway, and daughter Norma Jean Hannaman, grandson-in-law John Ross and her sister Ada Silas and brothers Carl and Harry Schmidt. Funeral services will be 3 pm Tuesday at Leavitt with Pastor Larry Dale officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen North (Arlington) Cemetery Visitation will be held 5 – 8 on Monday at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg.
