Obituary for Jessie Mae Hamm Thornton Jessie Mae Hamm Thornton passed away on September 18, 2018 at South Central Regional Medical Center at the age of 86. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 55 years Thurman (Shorty) Thornton, her parents Jesse Lee and Myrtle Lee Hamm, sisters Betty Carol Hamm and Norma Jean Knotts of Calhoun, MS and her three nephews, Mitch Graham, Greg Wooten and Stephen Wooten. She is survived by two brothers, Gary Lynn Hamm of Ellisville, MS and Larry Donald Hamm and wife Margaret of Slidell, LA, one sister Paula Louise Phelps and husband Terry of Purvis, MS, three nephews Jason Knotts, Robbie Graham and wife Dena Kay, Chris Hamm and wife Lorrie, and one niece Kristen Hamm.

Jessie Mae will be remembered for being a loving wife, daughter, sister and aunt. She always believed in family unity and had a strong Christian faith. She also was known for her love of antiques and collectibles.

Jessie Mae was a member of Glade Baptist Church. The family would like to give a special thanks to all the kind and dedicated staff at Jones County Rest Home in Ellisville, MS where Jessie Mae resided for the past 3 years. A graveside service will be held at Hickory Grove Cemetery in Laurel on Saturday, September 22, 2018 at 10 a.m. Rev.
