John’s Obituary John Francis Morehead, age 91, of Warrensburg passed away Sunday, January 13, 2019 at St. Luke’s East in Lee’s Summit. He was born August 19, 1927 the son of Hugh and Clio (Wilson) Morehead, Sr in Milan, MO. He graduated from Milan High School then served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

After being honorably discharged, he attended the University of Missouri-Columbia where he earned a B.S. in Agriculture and M.S. in Agricultural Economics. On August 4, 1951, he and Jacqueline Mae Evans were united in marriage in Tyler, TX. He spent his career employed by the University of Missouri, Agriculture Extension Service and the U.S. Department of Agriculture, He began as a County Agent, progressed to Farm Management Specialist and finished his career as Associate Dean, Agricultural Extension.

He was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, the Elks Club, and the Matthews-Crawford American Legion, Post No. 131. He enjoyed researching and participating in the financial markets; baking bread for his friends and family and working in the yard.

John is survived by his children, Kelly (Laura) Morehead of Mason, OH, Tom (Melissa) Morehead of Blue Springs, MO, Jim (Michelle) Morehead of Lexington, KY, Tim Morehead of Dallas, TX, Carol Ann (Richard) Morehead-Jenkins of Olathe, KS, and David Morehead of Kansas City, MO; a brother, Hugh Morehead, Jr. of Milan, MO; a sister, Judy Kay of Walnut, IA; and 9 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jacqueline Morehead, his parents, Hugh and Clio Morehead, a brother, Tom Morehead, and a grandson, John Eric Morehead, at birth. Funeral services will be held at 1 PM on Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Warrensburg with Father Joe Bathke officiating.

Interment will follow the service in Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville. The family will receive friends from 5-7 PM on Monday, January 21 at Sweeney-Phillips & Holdren Funeral Home. Memorial contributions are suggested to Sacred Heart Catholic Church and can be left in care of the funeral home.
