John W. West, 98, of Chambersburg, passed away July 6, 2018 at Falling Springs Nursing Home Chambersburg. He was born on October 4, 1919 in Chambersburg, to Charles and Elsie (Mellott ) West. He was of the Protestant faith.

He had owned and operated West Salvage Yard and later worked in auto sales at several local dealerships. He was the widower of the late Dorothy Wright West, who died May 3, 2006. He is survived by his daughter, Peggy (wife of Ken) Weaver of Chambersburg and a grandson, Bradley Hutzell.

He has a step granddaughter, Shari(wife of Lorin) Greber of Germantown, MD and two step-great-grandsons; Zachary Greber and Kyle Greber. He is survived by three sisters: Geraldine Benchoff of Kissimmee, Fl. .

, Amy Bishop of Chambersburg and Dorothy V. Miley of Chambersburg. He was preceded in death by a sister R. Evelyn Sollenberger, and by eight brothers; Ralph, Russell, Howard, Norman, Charles, Paul, Roger and Donald West. He has two half-brothers; Galen and Nolan West.

Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, Ltd., Chambersburg has been entrusted with conducting the funeral services. The family requests the omission of flowers and asks that memorial contributions be sent to CVAS, 5051 Letterkenny Road W., Chambersburg, PA.
