Obituary for Joseph Christian “J.C.” Auer Joseph Christian Auer, 92, of Hurricane passed away Wednesday June 6, 2018. Born February 14, 1926, he was known as “J.C.” by friends, family and colleagues. He graduated from Washington and Lee University where he excelled in academics and basketball.

J.C. also served his country in the United States Army. Following his military service and graduation from W&L, J.C. was owner of, American Block Company in Princeton, WV. He was proud to be a leader in the community, serving for many years on numerous boards, and non-profit groups and was a member of First United Methodist Church.

J.C. was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Dola Auer. He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Billie Ann Auer; three children, Joseph Christian Auer Jr. of Los Angeles, CA, Paige Auer Winck and husband Mike of Knoxville, TN and Kacie Gillam and husband Tim of Danville, CA; grandchildren, Adam Winck (Kelly), Ryder Winck (Emily), Meghan Burnham (Craig), Parker Gillam and Sydney Gillam; great-grandchildren, Greta, Sylvie, Hilda, Calvin and Kacyn. He is also survived by a loving niece and eight wonderful nephews.

A private service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to the Union Mission, PO Box 112, Charleston, WV 25321.
