Joseph’s Obituary Joseph P. “Joe” O’Neill, 75, of Portland, PA passed away Thursday, February 21st, at his residence. Joe was born in Scranton, PA on August 19, 1943, a son of the late Patrick and Ruth (Kresge) O’Neill. He was the husband of Susan (Carpenter) O’Neill.

They celebrated their 46th wedding anniversary. Joe was the owner and operator of O’Neill’s Place in Portland, PA. , for 25 years.

Prior to owning the bar, he was a truck driver. Joe was a graduate of Moosic High School. He served in the U.S. Army.

Joe loved his Mercedes, his Beck’s, playing pool, and spending time and joking around with his friends and patrons. He was a member of the Bangor Jacksonian Club. In addition to his wife Susan, Joe is survived by a daughter, Heather O’Neill, a son, Kevin O’Neill, husband of Sandra, a sister, Kathy Pawlik, two brothers, Eugene O’Neill and Tommy Reed, and 2 grandchildren Dylan and Jamie.

He is preceded in death by 3 sisters Dorothy Delusi, Carol Bailey, and Patricia Wheeler. A celebration of life service will be held at noon on Saturday, March 2nd at the Portland Hook and Ladder Co. #1, William Pensyl Social Hall, 111 State St, Portland, PA, followed by a time of fellowship. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Gaffney Parsons Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc., “Village of Johnsonville”, Bangor, PA.
