Lester’s Obituary Lester E. “Pete” LaBar, Jr., 87, of Bangor, PA passed away Friday, February 22nd, at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Inpatient Hospice, Allentown, PA. Lester was born in East Bangor, PA on February 1, 1932, a son of the late Lester E LaBar, Sr. and Iva (Rutt) LaBar. He was the widower of Barbara Jean (Miller) LaBar, who passed away in 1999.

Pete was employed as a cutter at Dally’s Slate Quarry in Pen Argyl, PA until retiring in 1995. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Pete was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Bangor, PA.

He was also a member of the East Bangor Vol. Fire Co., and Mt. Bethel Vol.

Fire Co. Pete is survived by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Paul “Pete” LaBar, 5 sisters Emma Slutter, Eleanor Hill, Shirley Hughes, Mildren Morken, and Marjorie Oyer, and a nephew Brian Hughes. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM on Tuesday, February 26th at Gaffney Parsons Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 4 Lillian Lane, “Village of Johnsonville” Bangor, PA with Rev.

Michael J. Scholtes officiating. Friends and family are invited to call from 1 to 2 PM on Tuesday, February 26th at the funeral home. Burial will be held in East Bangor Cemetery, East Bangor, PA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 2445 Lake Minsi Drive, Bangor, PA 18013.
