Josephine (Dambro) Pagano, 96, of Geddes, passed away Wednesday at the Bishop Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. She was born in Syracuse to the late Bartolo and Dianna (DeRoberts) Dambro in 1922. She was an assembler at Prestolite in Syracuse and a customer service associate at Chappell’s Department Store before retiring.

She was a longtime communicant of the Parish of St. Charles-St. Ann’s Church and member of St. Charles Altar and Rosary Society. Family and friends were Josie’s love and joy. Known for sharing delicious cookies at Christmas, her recipes were once featured in the Syracuse Post Standard.

The annual picnics that she hosted where enjoyed by all. Josie loved to travel, making an early trip to Rome and the Vatican. Later, she and Nick travelled many times to Florida to visit son Bob and his family.

She attended monthly lunches with her friends from Prestolite through 2017. Josie’s ability to budget both her time and money is a gift that she passed along to her family. She worked at Prestolite at night and kept a beautiful home during the day.

She was proud to have a backyard pool since 1957 where many kids enjoyed summer fun. Her children all have handmade afghans that she crocheted. She also loved to read, sew and do needlepoint .

Josie was always active, tending to her yard and colorful garden up to age 94. She was a very good bowler and league member until age 90. Josie was predeceased by her husband of 75 years, Nicholas, in 2018.

She is also predeceased by a grandson, Craig Todeschini, 2 sisters, Loretta Dellafave and Florence Baldwin and 2 brothers, Alex and Thomas Dambro. She is survived by 2 daughters; Sandra (Joe) Jachim and Cindy (Jim) Todeschini, both of Syracuse, son, Robert (Sue) Pagano, of Odessa, FL and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Services will be held at a later date.

Private entombment will be in St. Mary’s Resurrection Chapel Mausoleum, DeWitt. BAGOZZI TWINS FUNERAL HOME, has care of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to St. Charles-St. Ann’s Food Pantry, 4461 Onondaga Blvd, Syracuse, NY 13219.
