Obituary of Juanita Spivey Juanita Frances Cox Creason Spivey, 94, Bear Creek died Friday, April 13, 2018 at the home of her daughter. Mrs. Spivey was born in Chatham County on December 6, 1923, the daughter of Benjamin F. and Bertha (Leonard) Cox. She was retired from Glendale in Siler City at age 70, after retirement, she did alterations for family and friends.

Juanita was a member of Tyson’s Creek Baptist Church, where over the years she served as Sunday School Director, Vacation Bible School Director, WMU Director, Sunday School Teacher, Acteen Leader and she loved to sing in the choir. Her first husband, Rev. James Claude Creason was a Baptist Minister and she was very supportive and active in the churches he served as Pastor.

Mrs. Spivey was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, Rev. James Claude Creason and George N. Spivey; brother, Leonard Cox; sisters, Nannie C. Welch, Ruby C. Williamson, Arlene C. Scott and Lois C. Brady. She is survived by two daughters: Dianne C. Brooks and husband, Les and Gaynelle C. Culberson and husband, Johnny both of Bear Creek; step-daughters, Janet S. Shaw and husband, Roland of Wilson and Susan S. Cohen and husband, Joel of Chesapeake, VA.

; grandchildren, Eric Brooks (Mitzi), Gloria B. Cheek (Paul), Julie Albright and Jennifer Hand (Randy); great-grandchildren, Corey and Brittany Brooks, Kristen Cheek, and James Alton Albright; step-grandsons; Riley Culberson (Candace) and Ricky Culberson (Rebecca); seven step-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews; two sisters-in-law, Margaret Caviness and Mary Creason; special cousins, Henrietta Taylor and Maxie Hunnicutt. The family will receive friends Sunday, April 15, 2018, from 1:30 to 2:30 PM at Tyson’s Creek Baptist Church, 10891 Siler City-Glendon Road, Bear Creek, NC. The funeral service will follow Sunday at 2:30 PM with Rev.

Scott Walker and Rev. Randy Hand officiating. Burial will follow in Oakley Baptist Church Cemetery, Siler City.
