Laurie’s Obituary Laurie Jean Owens, age 59, of Carlisle, passed from this life to her Heavenly Home on Friday, February 22, 2019 after a short battle with pancreatic cancer. She lived in Carlisle, very near her beloved parents, Jesse and Kay Owens. Above all else, Laurie was a mother and her greatest joy was found in loving her two daughters, Erica and Julie.

Full of life, style and grace, she dedicated herself to enriching the lives of those around her, through ministry and humor, often stating that she was “here to raise your endorphin levels! ” She was always generous with her time, abilities, and res and loved to care for others, including her parents, her sister Cheryl during her passing, and countless others. She was a member of Mechanicsburg Brethren in Christ Church where she had served as a Sunday School teacher and she especially loved ministering to women in a variety of ways.

She will be remembered for her strong faith, enabling her to leave a legacy of love, for she “was looking forward to the city with foundations, whose architect and builder is God,” Hebrews 11:10. Surviving in addition to her parents are her loving daughters, Erica Schenhals and her partner Dan of Greenville, SC and Julie Murillo and husband Julian of Tacoma, WA; her sister, Debra Comrie and husband Matt of Seattle, WA; her brother, David Owens and wife Carol of Washington, D.C.; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her sister, Cheryl Lynn Patterson.

Memorial services will be held at 3:00 PM Thursday, February 28 at Mechanicsburg Brethren in Christ Church, 1050 S. York Street, Mechanicsburg. A graveside committal with family will take place at 2:00 PM Thursday in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, 319 W. Winding Hill Road, Mechanicsburg, prior to the church service. Others are welcome.

Laurie’s family requests that memorial contributions be made to Carolyn’s House, 1701 Linglestown Road, Harrisburg, PA 17110.
