Obituary for Laverne Meals Gray Loving mother, devoted grandmother and friend, Laverne Meals Gray, age 81, passed away on Friday, January 4, 2019 in Marshall, Texas with her family by her side. She was born in Covington, Texas on May 3, 1937 to Thomas Henderson and Jesse Elsie Meals. She is preceded in death by her husband, Elvie Weldon Gray, Jr.; her parents, Thomas Henderson Meals and Jesse Elsie Meals; her sister, Jesse Lee Meals Jones and her brother, Thomas Jackson Meals.

She is survived by her children, Judy Gray Akridge of Marshall, TX, Randy and Sondra Gray of Mt. Enterprise, TX, Kathy Gray Walker of Marshall, TX, and Carolyn Gray of Marshall, TX; her grandchildren, Jennifer Daniels, Michael Fowler, Robert Fowler, Misty Gray Qualls, Aaron Woodfin, Matt Gray, Stacy McFarland, Carmen Camacho, Alicia Jagot; 17 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Laverne was a member of the Nat Baptist Church and loved her Lord and Savior.

She enjoyed quilting and having a nice yard, but her true passion in life was her family. She was a loving mother and grandmother and will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Visitation will be held at Nat Community Cemetery, Highway 343, Nat, Texas on Tuesday, January 8, 2019 from 12-1pm.
