Leepoleon’s Obituary Mr. Leepoleon Dixon, Jr., a native and resident of Jackson, AL was born October 16, 1957 to the parentage of Mr. Leepoleon Dixon, Sr. and the late Mrs. Burcy Mae Parker Dixon. He departed this life March 7, 2019 at his home. “Bubba”, as he was affectionately known, was educated in the Clarke County School System.
He accepted Christ at an early age, united and was baptized at Saint Union Baptist Church, Jackson, AL where he was a loyal and dedicated choir member and lead singer. He loved to sing; one of his favorite songs was “My Soul Has Been Anchored In The Lord”. He later united with Good Stone AME Zion Church, Leroy, AL where he served as choir director.
He also gladly served on various church committees wherever and whenever called upon. Lee worked faithfully as a Youth Counselor in the Free Mission Baptist District Association Youth Department and enjoyed staying busy doing the Lord’s work. He loved the Lord and would do all he could to help anyone.
He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. Lee was an original member of both the Jackson Area Mass Choir and the Jackson Male Chorus. He was a founding member of the Depot Reunion Committee and was chairman of the Welcome Tent.
He worked diligently to help make the reunion better each year. Throughout his years of employment, he was employed with KFC (Kentucky Fried Chicken) and Andrews Funeral Home. In addition to his mother (and subsequently, his father), he was preceded in death by a brother, Victor Rone (Dorothy) Dixon two uncles, James “JD” Dixon and Roosevelt Dixon, one aunt and uncle, Emma and Tony Davis, niece, Karen Foxx; paternal grandparents, Lonnie and Lucy Dixon; maternal grandmother, Luburcy Tiggs Taylor; and a brother-in-law, James Blackmon.
He is survived by four brothers, Jimmy Lee (Janette) Dixon and Wayne Dixon, both of Cleveland, OH; Wendall Joe Dixon of Detroit, MI; Lonnie Craig (LaKeshia) Dixon of Jackson, AL; four sisters, Connie Faye (Joseph) Jackson of Ft. Rucker, AL; Nora Blackmon of Daleville, AL; Sonya Dixon and Tonya (Michael) Middleton, all of Woodbridge, VA; two aunts, Nellie Dixon of Chicago, IL and Nancy Franklin of Woodbridge, VA; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many, many, loving and devoted friends. Viewing Friday, March 15, 2019, 4-6pm at Andrews Funeral Home; viewing Saturday, March 16, 2019, 11am until the 12 noon service at Jackson High School Auditorium, 321 Stanley Drive, Jackson, AL 36545.
