Obituary for Leo Long Leo Long, Age 92 of Laurel, died Friday, October 19, 2018 at Mississippi State Veterans Home in Collins after a brief stay. Visitation will be held Monday, October 22, 2018 at Mill Creek Church in Laurel from 12:00 to 2:00 PM with funeral services to follow at 2:00 PM Burial will be in the Mill Creek Church Cemetery. Rev Bill Myers will officiate.

Leo was a native of Wayne County, served in the World War II and received a Purple Heart. He retired from the oil field and enjoyed fishing for catfish and growing a garden. Leo loved his farm in Wayne County and was a longstanding member of the Mill Creek Church.

Leo was preceded in death by his son, Glenn Micheal Long in 1972, His parents, Dewitt Talmadge, Sr and Verda Pitts Long; one brother, Talmage Long, Jr. and two sisters, Mary Nell Prince and Myrtle Holcomb. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Edwina Walters Long; one brother, Albert Long; five sisters, Pauline Foxworth, Verda Voncile “Bonnie” Long, Geneva Kelly, Annie Lou Griffith and Mattie Mae McILwain, a host of nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. Pallbearers will be Lewis Foxworth, Roy Foxworth, Ray Foxworth, Chris Leggett, Frank Slay, and Drew Walters.

Honorary pallbearers will be Cleon Blackledge, James Jordan, George Smith, Mike Leggett, Sammy Ball, and Donald E. Walters. Memory Chapel Funeral Home in Laurel will be in charge of Arrangements. To send flowers or a memorial gift to the family of Leo Long please visit our Sympathy Store.
