Lester L. Howald, 89, of Knightsville, Indiana, passed away at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana on November 12, 2018. Lester was born on November 18, 1928, in Jackson Township, Indiana the son of Peter A. and Flora B. (Coltharp) Howald. Lester graduated from Brazil High School with the class of 1946.

Lester worked in Brazil for several years and then at the Center Point Branch where he ended his career. Lester married Delores Lawson on September 23, 1950. When he wasn’t working, Lester enjoyed playing the trombone in the concert band.

He also enjoyed wood working, vacationing in Florida, and visiting with friends and family. Lester served with the Harmony Good Samaritan Group, the Brazil Exchange Club and on the 4-H Council. He was also a member of the Community Missionary Church.

Lester was preceded in death by his wife Delores Howald; his parents Peter and Flora Howald;; and two sisters: Bertha McCampbell and Mary F. Albright. Lester is survived by a son Rodney Howald and wife Nancy of Knightsville; a daughter Sue A. Tucker of Center Point; grandchildren: Cody Tucker and wife Amy and Brittney Tucker; great-granddaughter Olivia Tucker; and a sister Roberta Housefield of Danville, Indiana as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family members and friends. Visitation will be at Lawson – Miller Chapel, 1702 E. National Ave.

47834 on Monday, November 19, 2018 from 4-8pm. Services will be at the funeral home, on Tuesday, at 11:00am with Pastor Kenny Thomas and Mike Lawson officiating. Burial will follow at Calcutta Cemetery.
