Linda Sue Stelly August 23, 1947 – January 17, 2019 Share this obituary Sign Guestbook ARNAUDVILLE ~ Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 19, 2019 at a 12:00 p.m. Liturgy of the Word in Evangeline Memorial Gardens Chapel in Carencro for Linda Sue Stelly, age 71, the former Linda Sue Melancon, who passed away Thursday, January 17, 2019 at Lafayette General Medical Center. Interment will be in Evangeline Memorial Gardens in Carencro. The Rev.

Travis Abadie, pastor of St. Francis Regis Catholic Church, will officiate at the services. Mrs. Stelly was a native of Carencro and a resident of Arnaudville for most of her life where she was a parishioner of St. Francis Regis Catholic Church. She was a bus driver for the St. Landry Parish School Board and retired after twenty-five years of employment.

Linda enjoyed gardening and adored her grandchildren. Survivors include her husband of fifty-three years, Alvin Stelly of Arnaudville; one son, Herman “Tony” Stelly and his wife, Jill, of Church Point; two daughters, Tammy Johnson and her husband, Creig, of Sunset and Stacy Lynn Broussard and her husband, Billy, of Arnaudville; seven grandchildren, Brock Wyatt and his wife, Adrian, Valerie Deville and her husband, Brandon, Dillon Stelly and his wife, Brenna, Payton Broussard, Amber Broussard, Hunter Johnson and Hallie Dodge; four great grandchildren, Hayden Deville, Whitley Deville, Juliet Stelly and Tucker Hernandez; one brother, Jerry Bob Melancon and his wife, Sandy, of Maryland; and three sisters, Joyce Richard, Shirley Brasseaux and Lucille “Dale” Brisco. She was preceded in death by her parents, Isaac Melancon and the former Lucille Hernandez; three brothers, Ashby Melancon, Joseph Euel Melancon and Isaac Melancon, Jr.; and one sister, Lillian Melancon.

A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. Friday in the funeral home. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 4:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. Friday and will continue from 8:00 a.m. until service time on Saturday. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Lafayette General Medical Center and Lea Green for taking exceptional care, spending time and keeping her company.

Pallbearers will be Brock Wyatt, Dillon Stelly, Brandon Deville, Billy Broussard, Creig Johnson and Hunter Johnson. Honorary pallbearers will be Isaac Melancon and Jerry Bob Melancon. Melancon Funeral Home, Evangeline Memorial Gardens Chapel, 4117 N. University Ave.
