Lloyd Alvin DuVall passed away peacefully in Sierra Vista, Arizona on Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at 8:33 pm. Lloyd was born on July 15, 1933 in Canfield, Ohio. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Education from The Ohio State University in 1955.

While there, he was a participant in the Ohio State Marching Band, where he dotted the “i” at the Wisconsin Game in 1953. He earned his Masters’ Degree from Kent State University in 1960 and earned his Ph.D. in Educational Administration from The Ohio State University in 1968. Lloyd began his career in education where he led musical departments in various schools.

After achieving his Ph.D., his focus was on higher education. He was Assistant Professor of Educational Administration at the University of Rochester; Director of the Educational Cooperative at the Appalachia Educational Laboratory in Charleston, West Virginia; the Associate Dean of the College of Education at University of Oregon; Director of the National Ed. D Program at Nova University in Ft.

Lauderdale, Florida; and the Vice President of Instruction for Cochise College in Sierra Vista, Arizona. While in Sierra Vista, Lloyd was the President of the Symphony, Chairman and Academic Vice President of the Arizona School of Acupuncture/Oriental Medicine, and member of the Board at the Arizona Folklore Preserve. During his career, he co-authored approximately 50 higher education publications.

Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents, Nile and Alice DuVall of Canfield, Ohio and his sister, Lois (DuVall) Knox. He is survived by his loving companion, Dori DuVall of Sierra Vista; his son Dale DuVall (Pamela) of Eugene, Oregon and his daughter, Linda Thatcher (Mark) of Granville, Ohio; his grand-daughters Jasmine Lawrence (Tyler) and Jessica Sly, and grandson Joshua Thatcher; two great grandchildren, Kennedy and Elliott Lawrence; and brother, Howard DuVall (Audrey) of Springboro, Ohio. A memorial service will be held in on Sunday, July 29, 2018 at the Pueblo del Sol Country Club in Sierra Vista, AZ from 2:00pm – 4:00pm.
