Lucy Grace Tara, age 83, passed away on June 7, 2018, in the company of her family. She was born Lucia Grace, a twin, in New Haven, on November 3, 1934, to Anna and Vincenzo DeStefano. She resided in Bethany, with her husband, Stan, where they raised twin children.

Lucy was a devout Catholic and parishioner at Our Lady of The Assumption Church in Woodbridge, Connecticut. She was a beautiful, spry and devoted wife, mother, sister, and friend. In addition to caring for her pets, her great loves were Pepe’s Pizza on Wooster Street, Yankees baseball and following financial markets as her beloved son spent his career as a trader on Wall Street.

She loved country living including her native apple trees, vegetable gardens, preparing home-baked pies and hosting poolside parties. She is survived by siblings James DeStefano, Eleanor Carbone and Carmel Snedeker. She will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by her children, Suzanne and Stasys, and her son’s children, Madeline and Alexander Tara of Mill Valley and Berkeley, California, respectively.

Visiting hours will be held Wednesday morning from 8:30-9:30 in the Iovanne Funeral Home, Inc. 11 Wooster Place in New Haven. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 81 Center Rd. in Woodbridge at 10.
