Madonna “Jean” Shepard, age 83, of Elwood, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 19, 2018 at her residence. She was born on February 25, 1935, to the late Hugh and Nellie Mae (McCreary) Parker. On October 4, 1952 she married the love of her life, Wachel C. “Chuck” Shepard.

Madonna was Homemaker and dedicated herself to caring for her family and her home. She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Elwood. She loved to sew, enjoyed caring for her yard and her flowers and enjoyed watching movies.

Jean was a wonderful wife and mother and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. Jean is survived by her loving husband, of 66 years, Chuck Shepard of Elwood, 3 children, John (Jenny) Shepard of New Castle, Diana Abbott of Elwood, and Danny Shepard, 4 grandchildren, Theron Strong, Mia Shepard, Brett Shepard, and Liska (Dennis) Baltimore, 9 great grandchildren, brother, Bernie Parker, and 2 sisters, Linda Clegg and Vickie Clark. Jean was preceded in death by her father, Hugh Parker, mother, Nellie Parker, and brothers and sisters, Paul Parker, Blanch Hill, Frances Creamer, John Parker, and Bob Parker.

A funeral service celebrating Jean’s life will be conducted at 11:00 am Tuesday, July 24, 2018 at Dunnichay Funeral Home in Elwood, with Rev. Matt Mehlholt officiating. Burial will follow in the Elwood City Cemetery.

Visitation will be Monday, July 23, 2018, 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm, at Dunnichay Funeral Home, 1113 S. Anderson Street, Elwood, Indiana. Online condolences can be given at www.
