Obituary for MAJ. Edward Henry Jewel RET. MAJ.

Edward Henry Jewel, Ret. , 85, husband of Barbara Louise Capone Jewel, of 208 Playground Road, Walhalla, passed away, Thursday, June 21, 2018, at Oconee Memorial Hospital due to complications attributed to Agent Orange. A native of Six Mile, SC, MAJ.

Jewel was the son of the late James Conrad Jewell and Mary Rampey Jewell. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. MAJ.

Jewel entered the U.S. Army as a Private and retired as Major after 20 years of active duty. He served a number of tours, including a tour of duty in Vietnam. After retirement MAJ.

Jewel served the U.S. Army as a civilian for another 25 years. MAJ. Jewel was an accomplished singer and lead singer for Ed Jewel and The Wranglers.

In addition to his wife, MAJ. Jewel is survived by his children: Rebecca Lee Sitton (Joe) of The Plains, VA, Gary Edward Jewel of Lake Anna, VA, Michael Wayne Jewel (Michelle Lee) of Mt. Jackson, VA and Robert Douglas Jewel (Kumiko) of Chapin, SC; brothers: Floyd Jewell (Joyce) of Six Mile, SC, Benny Jewell (Phyllis) of Liberty, SC and Fred Jewell (Robbie) of Ayer, MA; sisters: Peggy Ann Craig of Six Mile, SC and Geraldine Donald of Six Mile, SC; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, MAJ. Jewel was preceded in death by his brother: Lloyd Jewell. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, June 27, 2018, at Davenport Funeral Home Chapel with a private burial to follow.

The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 PM, Wednesday, prior to the service, at Davenport Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The American Cancer Society, 154 Miles Way, Greenville, SC 29615. The family is at the home.
