Obituary for Mr. Benjamin Colson Jones Sr. Benjamin Colson Jones, Sr., 91, of 108 Keil Farm Road, Walhalla, passed away Monday, July 30, 2018, at his home. A native of Ware Shoals, SC, Mr. Jones was the son of the late Horace Belton and Mable Leigh Colson Jones. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy ranking as Seaman First Class while serving during WWII.

Mr. Jones was awarded the American Area Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Medal and Victory Medal. He later retired from the SC Highway Patrol. Mr. Jones was a member of the St. Luke Methodist Church.

Mr. Jones is survived by his sons: Benjamin Colson Jones, Jr. (Dana) of Walhalla, SC and Mark Daniel Jones (Sydney) of Westminster, SC; daughter: Virginia “Gigi” Jones Bowen (John) of Columbia, TN; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his son: Michael Troy Jones; four brothers and six sisters. He was the youngest and last surviving of his siblings.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM, Thursday, August 2, 2018, at Davenport Funeral Home with Military Honors. In lieu of the flowers, memorials may be made to Shriner’s Hospital for Children, 950 West Farris Road, Greenville, SC 29605 or to Medi Home Hospice, 1659 Sandifer Blvd. , Seneca, SC 29678.
