Obituary for Mrs. Margie Mary Evatt Margie Mary Ellenburg Evatt, 97, wife of the late Samuel Ray Evatt, of 955 W. Branch Ave. , Newry, passed away Saturday, July 28, 2018 at Cottingham Hospice House. A native of Pickens County, Mrs. Evatt was the daughter of the late Robert “Vess” Sylvester Ellenburg and Ella Galloway Ellenburg.

She was a member of Newry Church of God and was a homemaker. Mrs. Evatt is survived by her son: Cameron “Cam” Evatt and wife Diane of Seneca; daughter: Donna Evatt Hendricks and husband Ronnie of Six Mile; ten grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, three great great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law: Kim Evatt of Seneca; sister: Clessie Evans of Seneca. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Evatt was preceded in death by a granddaughter: Kristen Evatt Gambrell; son: Elton “Butch” Dennis Evatt; daughter: Virginia “Penny” Smith; brothers: Vernor Ellenburg (Della), Willie Ellenburg (Lucille), and T. B. Ellenburg (Lillian); sisters: Nettie Stewart (Manley), Myrtie Holden (Henry), Delia Lusk (Henry), Ruby Albertson (Coke); and brother-in-law: Luther Evans.

Funeral services will be conducted at 4:00 PM, Tuesday, July 31, 2018, at Newry Church of God with burial in Courtney Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:30 – 3:30 PM, Tuesday, July 31, 2018, prior to the service at Newry Church of God. Flowers are accepted or memorials may be made to GHS Oconee Hospice of the Foothills, Cottingham Hospice House, Attn: Foundation Office, 298 Memorial Drive, Seneca, SC 29672.
