Obituary for SMSGT. Earl Edward Littlefield Sr. Retired Air Force Senior Master Sergeant Earl Edward Littlefield, Sr., devoted husband of Patricia Ivester Littlefield left his earthly mission to join his twin brother Navy Senior Chief Yeoman Sumner Curtis Littlefield, Jr. on July 4, 2018 in the comfort of his home. The funeral services will be conducted at 4:00 PM, Sunday, July 8, 2018, at Welcome Wesleyan Church.

The family will receive friends from 3:00-4:00 PM, Sunday, prior to the service, at the church. The family will be at the residence. Born December 10, 1935 in Brockton, Massachusetts he made his connection to South Carolina after being stationed at Donaldson Air Force Base in 1960.

Earl joined the Air Force in 1954 and served as Chaplain Service Superintendent, responsible for the financial, personnel, administrative and logistical support activities for the three major faith groups (Catholic, Protestant and Jewish). Among the medals he received were the Meritorious Service Medal with 2 oak leaves, the Air Force Commendation Medal with 2 oak leaves, the Air Force Presidential Unit Ribbon, the US Air Force Good Conduct Ribbon with 3 Bronze Knots, the Air Force Good Conduct Medal with 4 Bronze Oak Leaf Clusters, the National Defense Service Ribbon with 2 Bronze stars, the Armed Forces EXP Ribbon, the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award with 1 Bronze Oak Leaf and numerous other commendations for outstanding service. After retiring from 22 years of service, Earl was proud he received 3 degrees from Tri-County Technical College in 2 years (Business, Accounting and Finance) and was named the Outstanding Business graduate.

He completed his B.S. in business from Limestone College and went on to work as the credit manager at Kimbrell’s Furniture and then became a small business owner at Bountyland Video and launching Paesano’s Italian Pizzeria. He was a devoted member at Welcome Wesleyan Church and American Legion Post #124. Earl is survived by his wife of 56 years, his sister: Ann Cowles; sons: Earl Edward Littlefield, Jr. (Darlene) and James Richard Littlefield (Melinda); five grandchildren: Will, Connor, Mikayla, Cager and Cayden.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Sumner and Edner Littlefield; and his twin brother. Flowers are accepted or memorials may be made to the American Legion Post #124, 391 Kenneth Street, Walhalla, SC 29691. To send flowers or a memorial gift to the family of SMSGT.
