Obituary for Mrs. Brenda Jean Martin Barnes Brenda Jean Martin Barnes, 72, wife of Willie Hugh Barnes, of 120 Buffalo Road, West Union, passed away Monday, June 18, 2018 at GHS Cottingham Hospice House. A native of Oconee County, SC, Mrs. Barnes was the daughter of the late Plumer Lee Martin and Grace Moore Martin. She retired from The Beaverdam Baptist Association after 29 years as the administrative assistant.

Mrs. Barnes was a member at Poplar Springs Baptist Church. Mrs. Barnes is survived by her son: Thad Barnes (Kisha) of Fair Play, SC; daughters: Leslie O’Kelley (Johnny) of Westminster, SC and Ashley Todd (Chase) of Seneca, SC; brothers: Dewitt Martin (Glenda) of Seneca, SC and Stanley Martin (Chima) of Walhalla, SC; sisters: Dot Bottoms and Diane Martin both of Seneca, SC; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Barnes was preceded in death by her sister: Joyce Stanley.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM, Thursday, June 21, 2018, at Poplar Springs Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM, Wednesday, June 20, 2018, at Davenport Funeral Home. Flowers are accepted or memorials may be made to Foothills Care Center, 207 Main Street, Seneca, SC 29678.
