Margaret “Peggy Ann” (Regrut) Merlo, 86, passed away Monday April 23, 2018 at St. Luke’s Hospice House in Bethlehem. She was married on October 2, 1954 to George A. Merlo. They celebrated 49 ½ years of marriage until George’s passing on March 20, 2004.

Born June 14, 1931 in Phillipsburg, NJ; a daughter of the late Joseph and Lucy (Wambold) Regrut. Peggy was a resident of Phillipsburg, NJ for 57 years before moving to Bethlehem Twp. She was a graduate of St. Philip and St. James High School class of 1948 where she played basketball and coached.

Peggy was an employee of Warren Hospital housekeeping department for 10 years and also worked for Tronix Inc. in Phillipsburg. In 2008 she retired from Shammy Shine Car Washes where she worked for many years as a cashier in both Easton and Palmer Twp. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and was formerly a member of St. Philip and St. James Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters of America and the Auxiliary of the Jersey Hose Company #2.

Peggy is survived by sons, Michael and wife Kim of Flemington, NJ and Thomas and wife Claranne of Jamison; daughters, Karen and husband Frank of Bethlehem Twp. and Denise and husband Michael of Queensbury, NY; grandchildren, Katelyn, Jeffrey, Maegan and husband Taylor, Michael, Sarah, Hannah, Thomas and Matthew. Peggy is preceded in death by a sister Alice Maddock Woodruff and a brother Joseph Maddock.

Calling hours will be held Wednesday from 6pm until 8 pm and also Thursday from 8 am until 9 am in Morello Funeral Home, Inc., 3720 Nicholas Street, Easton, PA (Palmer Twp. ). A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10 am in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 1817 1st St, Bethlehem.

Interment will be in Northampton Memorial Shrine, Palmer Twp. Thank you to everyone for the care given to Peggy during her illness. Memorial Contributions may be made in Peggy’s memory to St. Luke’s Hospice House, 2455 Black River Road, Bethlehem, PA 18015.
