Maria L.Truch, age 90, of Battle Creek, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on April 26, 2018. She was born on October 27, 1927 in Frankfurt, Germany to August and Helene (Holzschuh) Keden. Her first marriage to Paul L. Anthony ended in divorce.

In 1966, she married Erwin A. Truch in Schwalheim, Germany. She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Erwin Truch, and stepson Dieter Truch of Battle Creek. Surviving are sons, Michael (JoAnne) Anthony, David (Cathy) Anthony, and Donald (Melissa) Anthony all of Battle Creek, daughter Peggy (Bill) Bierce of Sun City Center, Florida and stepsons, Jürgen (Sonia) Jung and Klaus (Ingrid) Seipel who reside in Germany.

She has 8 grandchildren, 9 step-grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, 15 step-great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren. Maria was a war bride who met her first husband while working for the U.S. Army as a teletype operator. She made America her home in 1947.

She volunteered at Percy Jones hospital until becoming a full-time homemaker. Later, she worked at V.C. Squier Company. Maria enjoyed her quiet life at home, her daily routine, crossword puzzles, reading, sitting in her sunroom and visiting with loved ones.

Maria’s family would like to extend sincere gratitude and appreciation to Great Lakes Hospice Care with special acknowledgment to Kelli whose devoted care has become indispensable. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m., on Monday, April 30, 2018 at the Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery Chapel. Memorials may be made to Great Lakes Hospice Care.
