Marjorie’s Obituary Marjorie C. Sherman, age 99 of North Venice, Florida and formerly a longtime resident of Elwood, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 6, 2019 at The Inn at the Sarasota Bay Club in Florida after a long, well-lived life. She was born July 9, 1919 in Swayzee, Indiana, the daughter of Carl Elbert and Pearl Marie (Brunk) Rudy. Marjorie was a graduate of Kokomo High School in 1937, and later married Robert A. Miller on September 10, 1938.

They shared nearly 32 years together before his passing in 1970. She later married Harold M. “Mush” Sherman on August 29, 1975 and they shared over 20 years of marriage before his passing in 1996. Marjorie formerly worked as a bookkeeper at the Elwood Water Company for 7 years and later retired at the age of 62 from Wardwell Soft Water in Elwood after many years of service.

She was a member of East Main Street Christian Church in Elwood where she was a member of the Golden Circle. Marjorie was also a member of the Delta Theta Tau Sorority and the 50+ Club; active with the Lady Elks; and was formerly active in the Social Club at the Elwood YMCA. She especially enjoyed playing cards, playing Euchre, solving jigsaw puzzles, and watching the Indiana Pacers and Indianapolis Colts.

She will be remembered as a person who truly enjoyed the long life she was blessed to have. Marjorie’s family legacy includes three daughters, Marjorie (husband Truman) Pierce of Elwood, Barbara Rice of Anderson, and Carol (husband Bob) Merida of North Venice, Florida; two step-children, Julie Frazier of Indianapolis and Marshall “Brig” Sherman of California; 9 grandchildren; several step-grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; several step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, Robert Miller and Harold “Mush” Sherman; three sisters, Infant Mardell Rudy, Williamette L. Hadley, and Helen P. Carr; and son-in-law, Don Rice.

A funeral service honoring Marjorie’s life will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Monday, March 11, 2019 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Rev. Roger Gardner officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Cemetery in Elwood beside her first husband.

Visitation for family and friends will be held from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Monday prior to the funeral at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice. Online condolences and memories may be shared at copherfeslermay.com.
