Mary Louise Boyland, age 79, of Elwood, passed away on Monday, March 4, 2019 at Community Parkview Health and Living Center following an extended illness. She was born on August 5, 1939 in Alexandria to the late Robert and Marguerite (Zink) Spies. On June 28, 1958 she married the love of her life Ronald J. Boyland.

Mary retired on May 27, 2004 from the Elwood Publishing Company where she had worked for many years as the Office Manager. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Mary was an avid bowler and was a past secretary/treasurer of the Elwood Women’s Bowling League.

and was formerly a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. Mary is survived by her loving husband, of more than 60 years, Ronald J. Boyland of Elwood, 3 sons, Ronald J. (wife Kelli) Boyland of Elwood, Jeffrey A. (wife Dar) Boyland of Elwood, and Gary S. (wife Christy) Boyland of Elwood, 11 grandchildren Audra Lynn Boyland, Adam (Christina) Boyland, Sarah (Bryan) Jarvis, Meredith (Trae) Childress, Tanner (Veronica) Boyland, Kelton Boyland, Andy (Valerie) Boyland, Greg (Caitlin) Boyland, Matt (Lee) Boyland, Cory (Tiffany) Boyland, and Brittany (Zach) Woodbury, 12 great grandchildren, Zach, Zayne, Zeppelin, Georgianna, Vivienne, Finley, Kenzi, Maggie, Isabelle, Max, Quinn, and Sylas, sister, Jeananne Finan, brother, Robert A. Spies, and several nieces & nephews. Mary was preceded in death by her father, Robert E. Spies, Jr., mother, Marguerite Spies.

Funeral service will be at 11:00 am on Friday, March 8, 2019 at Dunnichay Funeral Home with Mary’s grandson, Pastor Greg Boyland officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery in Elwood. Visitation will be from 4-8 pm on Thursday, March 7, 2018 , at Dunnichay Funeral Home, 1113 South Anderson Street, Elwood.

Memorial contributions may be made to Community Parkview’s Activity Fund for Bingo through the funeral home. Online condolences can be given at www.
