Martha Margaret Jamie June 27, 1916 – February 08, 2019 Share this obituary Send Sympathy Gifts Upload Photo| Sign Guestbook| View Guest Book Entries| Send Sympathy Card Martha Margaret Jamie (nee: Hansen), of South Amherst, passed away at the age of 102 on Friday, February 8, 2019 at Anchor Lodge Nursing Home. Along with her late husband, Bill Jamie, co-founded Jamie’s Auction and Jamie’s Flea Market. She was born June 27, 1916 in Rocky Ridge, Ohio where she was raised.

Martha lived most of her adult life in South Amherst. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church for more than seventy years. Her hobbies and activities include collecting antique dolls, playing cards and crocheting.

She was a great cook and baker. Martha is survived by her four daughters Janice Ingersoll, Elaine Turton (Ron), Beverly Schmidt (Warren), and Deborah Gibson (Harold); twelve grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren; eleven great great grandchildren and her sister Leona Behlmer. She was preceded in death by parents Awald and Margaret Hansen (nee: Linke) and nine brothers and a sisters, and a son in law Stanley Ingersoll.

Friends may call Tuesday, February 12, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. Until the funeral service at 11:00 at St. Paul Lutheran Church; 115 Central Drive, Amherst. Rev. Paul Werner, pastor will officiate.

Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, South Amherst. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in her name to St. Paul Lutheran Church; 115 Central Drive, Amherst. The Hempel Funeral Home is honored to serve the Martha Jamie family and has made available for the community’s convenience an on-line register book as well as additional information to help facilitate expressions of compassion.
