Marvin’s Obituary Marvin Holmes of Haywood, Oklahoma died Monday, May 20, 2019 at the McAlester Nursing Center in McAlester at the age of 89. A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m., Thursday, May 23, 2019 at Chaney’s Memorial Chapel in McAlester. Marvin was born April 6, 1930 in Hay Springs, Nebraska to Arthur and Charlotte (Pierceson) Holmes.

Marvin served in the United States Navy. He retired from the Carpenters Union in Anchorage, Alaska and later retired a second time as a building contractor in Washington. Marvin resided in Montana prior to moving to Oklahoma in 1997.

He enjoyed traveling in his RV, dancing and fishing. Marvin is survived by his travel companion of 25 years, Mildred Thompson of Haywood, Oklahoma; special nephew, Ron Holmes of Sedro-Woolley, Washington and a host of other family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Charlotte Holmes; a wife, Winnie; two brothers, Frank and Larry; three sisters, Blanche, Cleo and Angie.
