Marvin L. Wright, 76, a lifelong native of the Forest Grove community, died Tuesday morning, July 3, 2018 at the Tuality Forest Grove Hospital. MARVIN LOUIS WRIGHT was born January 31, 1942 in Forest Grove, Oregon, the son of the late Walter Louis Wright and Frances Rosetta (Place) Wright. He was raised and received his education in the Forest Grove community, having been a graduate of the Forest Grove High School Class of 1960.

Marvin later received an associate arts degree in fire science. He joined the United States Marine Corp on January 31, 1959 in Portland, Oregon. Marvin served for four years, until receiving his honorable discharge on October 1, 1962, at the rank of Cpl.

Marvin was united in marriage to Linda K. Freeman on June 28, 1963 in the First Christian Church in Forest Grove. They celebrated their 55th Wedding Anniversary this past June. Following their marriage they have made their home in the Forest Grove community since.

He had served as a Battalion Chief and Fire Marshall for the Forest Grove Fire Department for forty years, until he retired in 1999. Marvin was a charter-member of the Forest Grove Elks Lodge B.P.O.E. #2440.

Among his special interests, he enjoyed camping, fishing at Henry Hagg Lake and crabbing at Garibaldi. Marvin also enjoyed crossword puzzles, gardening and reading his collection of Louis L’Amor books. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Frances Wright and his two brothers, Jerry L. Wright and Dennis R. Wright.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Wright, of the family home in Forest Grove, Oregon; his four children, Sheryl L. and Greg W. Bunker, of Forest Grove, Oregon; Sandra K. and Bill Kinney, of Hinesville, Georgia; Michele L. Wright, of Virginia Beach, Virginia and Steven and Amanda Wright, of Idaho Falls, Idaho. Also surviving are his twelve grandchildren and their spouses, Josh Hundley, of Forest Grove, Oregon; Melinda and Matt Dozois, of Cambridge, Wisconsin; Dustin Hundley, of Forest Grove, Oregon; Candace Hundley and Jordan Parker, of Sun River, Oregon; Andrew and Megan Scroggins, whom is serving in the U.S. Air Force, stationed at Okinawa, Japan; Nathan Scroggins, of Savannah, Georgia; Ashley Scroggins, of Hinesville, Georgia; Rebecca Hackett, of Richmond, Virginia; Alma Rose Hackett, of Virginia Beach, Virginia; Jacob Wright, of Idaho Falls, Idaho Kylee Wright, of idaho falls ID and Zacharie Wright, of Idaho Falls, Idaho; his six great-grandchildren, Madison Dozois; Makenna Dozois; Ikaika Parker; Kanoa Parker; Dylan Scroggins; and Lucy Scroggins and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
