Obituary for Mary Shaffer (Sarsfield) Mary Agnes (Sarsfield) Shaffer, 92, of Penn died Tuesday June 26, 2018 in the Excela Health Hospice, Greensburg. She was born February 5, 1926, in Penn a daughter of the late Joseph M. and Anna (Rathgeb) Sarsfield. Prior to her retirement she was employed as a cafeteria worker for Penn Elementary School.
Mary also at one time worked for the Bell-View Company in Penn. She was a member of the former St. Boniface Church, in Penn and a current member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Irwin. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband William Shaffer; a sister Kathleen Hurst; three brothers Andrew “Raymond”, Joseph and Robert Sarsfield and a brother-in-law Roy F. Johnston.
Surviving are two children Mary Ann Sadler and husband, Bruce, of Plum; Ronald W. Shaffer and wife, Carol, of North Huntingdon; four grandchildren Matthew Sadler and wife, Bethany and Mark Sadler all of, Plum, Adam and Aaron Shaffer both of, North Huntingdon; three great grandchildren Camden, Reece and Molly; a sister Dorothy Johnston, of Irwin; a sister-in-law Regina Sarsfield, of Jeannette; her lifelong friend Rosemarie Rathbeg, of Penn and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Ott Funeral Home Inc. 805 Pennsylvania Avenue Irwin. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Monday in the Immaculate Conception Church, Irwin.
