Mary E. Bookwalter, 96, of Mount Joy, passed away on Monday, March 4, 2019, at Masonic Villages, Elizabethtown. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Elizabeth (Bullock), Schlotthauer. Mary was the wife of the late Robert Bookwalter who passed away on February 24, 2012 Mary was a graduate of JP McCaskey High School class of 1940.

She owned and operated a dog kennel where she bread poodles. She won several awards for her poodles that made it to Westminster. She was a past president of the Mount Joy Business and Professional Women Club.

She was an avid reader and enjoyed shopping Mary is survived by a grandson, Gregory Boylan of York; and two great-grandchildren, Delaney and Finley Boylan. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Anne L. Heck and two grandsons, Timothy and Michael Boylan. A Graveside Service honoring Mary’s life will be held at the Landisville Mennonite Cemetery, Camp Meeting Road, Landisville on Saturday, March 9, 2019, at 1 PM.
