Obituary for Mary Henrietta Birks Mary Henrietta Birks, 91, passed away on Saturday, January 12, 2019. Born in Westfield, MA, on June 11, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Katherine (Kolaga) Wozniak. After her parents died, she and some of her siblings were raised by the Daughters of Mary of the Immaculate Conception in Our Lady of Rose Hill Orphanage in New Britain, CT.
She graduated from E.C. Goodwin Technical High School in New Britain, and later moved to Meriden in 1957. She worked for many years for the State of Connecticut Department of Children and Youth Services, at the Connecticut School for Boys in Meriden, then Long Lane School in Middletown. She was a parishioner of St. Stanislaus Church.
She was predeceased by two sisters, Annie and Bernice; five brothers, Frank, Antoni, Michael, Joseph and Albert; two nephews, Ronnie and Eddie Wozniak; her longtime companion Frank; dear friends; and the many beloved cats she gave homes to over the years. She is survived by her son Michael Birks and her daughter Catherine Bolduc, several cherished nieces and nephews, and extended family. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at 11 a.m. at St. Faustina Parish, St. Stanislaus Church, 82 Akron St., Meriden.
Everyone is asked to gather directly at the church. Burial will be private at a later date. There are no calling hours.
