Obituary for Maurice “Buster” Smith Maurice Swanson “Buster” Smith, Jr., 70, passed away Tuesday, December 18, 2018, at his home. He was born in Martinsville, Virginia, on September 5, 1948 to the late Maurice Swanson Smith, Sr He was raised by his father and step-mother, Virginia Griffin Smith, who also preceded him in death.

He was also preceded in death by his wife, Debra Joyce Taylor Smith; sisters, Teresa Ann, and Virginia Lorene Smith, and brothers, Rodney Dean Smith, Sr. and James Anthony Smith, Sr Mr. Smith had been disabled at the time of his death. He was of the Baptist faith; he enjoyed playing poker, driving people around, writing poetry, and working on gadgets and motors; he also was a locksmith, he ran a pool hall and a taxi stand.

He is survived by his sisters, Sandra Elaine Smith and Angela Smith Woods (Phillip); and brothers, Jeffrey Lee Smith and Thomas Charles Smith. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Wright Funeral Service & Crematory is serving the family.
