Obituary for Melvin Barks Melvin D. Barks, 80, of Shook, MO, passed away Sunday, July 1, 2018, at Missouri State Veterans Home, Cape Girardeau, MO. Melvin was born November 13, 1937, at Burbank, MO, son of Elmer and Myrtle (Underwood) Barks. He proudly served in the United States Third Army, A Battery, 2nd Howitzer Battalion, 11th Artillery from 1961 until 1963.

In his working years he found a career as an electrician at Boeing Company for over thirty-four years. He was a farmer and in free time he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a Christian of the Baptist faith.

He is survived by his son, Ron Barks; Grandson, Ryan Barks; one brother: Ralph Barks; three sisters: Thelma Haynes, Faye Stevenson and Shirley Charles. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister Beulah Noldge. Visitation will be held Saturday, July 7, 2018, from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm, at Ruegg Funeral Home, Greenville, MO.

Masonic Services will be given at 12:45 pm, at the chapel and Melvin’s funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm. Burial will be at Crossroads Cemetery near Greenville with full military honors. Online condolences can be made at www.
