Michael Karl Blakeney, Sr., 57, of Poplar Ave. , Kannapolis, NC, passed away Monday, January 28, 2019, at Atrium Health-Northeast. He was born April 23, 1961 in Cabarrus County to William Farris, Sr. and the late Sarah Gaines Blakeney.

Michael was educated in the Kannapolis City School System and was a 1980 graduate of A. L. Brown High School. He was formerly employed as a Bus Driver and a Certified Barber. Michael was a member First Baptist Church.

Services will be held Monday, February 4, at First Baptist Church, 1311 E. First St., Kannapolis, NC. Visitation will be 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM with funeral services at 1:00 PM. Burial will follow at First Baptist Church Cemetery.

In addition to his mother he was preceded in death by one sister, Debra Farris; three brothers, Abduil (Keith) Shaheed, Larry Wayne and Ricky Farris. Those left to cherish fond memories include his wife, Ana(Rita) Blakeney of the home; one son, Michael K. Blakeney, Jr. (Sayaka) of Hawaii; two daughters, Deonna Blakeney and Valerie Blakeney both of Kannapolis; 10 grandchildren; his father, William Farris, Sr.; eight brothers, Derek Benton Blakeney, Samuel Darnell Blakeney, Jesse Farris, Billy Farris, David Farris, William Farris, Jr., Tim Jordan (Sylvia), Tony Leak; six sisters, Karen Yvonne Blakeney, Gloria F. Martin (Roosevelt), Sonya Ladder (Roger), Lisa Lyons (Rickey), Tommy Ann Jordan (Carl), Tracy Jordan and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
