Donald Russell, 70, of Union Cemetery Road, Concord, NC, passed away Saturday, December 29, at Atrium Health – NorthEast. He was born August 10, 1948 in Iredell County to the late George W. Russell and the late Berthena Knox Russell. Donald was a graduate of the Cabarrus Schools and Rowan Technical College.

He was formerly employed by Terminal Trucking and owned a Service Station. Donald was a member of Bethpage United Presbyterian Church where he served on the Trustee Board, Men’s Council, former president of Gentlemen’s Quarterly Club, Rotary Club of Kannapolis and sponsor of WRKB Radio Station. Services will be held Thursday, January 3, at Bethpage United Presbyterian Church.

Visitation will be 12:00 – 1:00 PM with funeral services at 1:00. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, George Gregory Russell, Eddie Wayne Russell, David Orlando Russell.

Those left to cherish fond memories include a son, Frederick Hopper, Sr. of Charlotte, grandson, Frederick Hopper, Jr. of Concord; one sister, Sarah R. White of Kannapolis; two brothers, Bennie L Russell (Evelyn) and Tony Russell (Belinda) both of Kannapolis; aunts, Annie Grier, Naomi Knox, Mary Lee Bost; uncle Cletus Knox and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
