Obituary for Mrs Madeline Evelyn Dean Hewett Madeline Evelyn Dean Hewett, 78, wife of the late Rufus Ester Hewett, Jr., passed away Saturday, June 24, 2018 at GHS Cottingham Hospice House. A native of Laurens, SC, Mrs. Hewett was the daughter of the late Thomas Robert and Carrie Mae James Dean. She was a homemaker and a member of Grace Independent Baptist Church in Walhalla.

Mrs. Hewett is survived by her sisters: Cora Durham (Lawrence) of Westminster, and Ruby Hawkins (Delmer) of Traveler’s Rest; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Hewett was preceded in death by her brothers: Jerry, Raybun, and Bill Dean; and a niece: Dawn Durham Blackwell. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, June 26, 2018, at Davenport Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow at Oconee Memorial Park in Seneca.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 11:00 AM Tuesday, prior to the service at Davenport Funeral Home. Flowers are accepted or memorials may be made either to the GHS Oconee Hospice of the Foothills, Attn: Foundation Office, 298 Memorial Drive, Seneca, SC 29672; or to the Oconee Humane Society, PO Box 966, West Union, SC 29696. The family is at their respective homes.
