Obituary for Myrtle Lee Davis Myrtle Lee Davis, 91, of Matthews and formerly of Lumberton, NC, died Wednesday, September 19, 2018, at the Royal Park Care Center in Matthews. Myrtle was born in Robison County, NC, on January 26, 1927, the daughter of Samuel and Bessie Lowe Davis. She went into the banking industry, working for City National, Southern National and ultimately BB&T after their acquisition of City and Southern.

She worked as a teller and went on to become a trainer and a loan officer. Myrtle lived in the house in Lumberton that her parents built, and though never married with children of her own, she had a large extended family, both residents of Lumberton that knew her as well as the other members of her family. When in Lumberton and out at the mall or Shoneys on Sunday, everyone knew “Ms. Myrtle”.

She was also a very active member of First Baptist Church of Lumberton where she was active in the choir, cooking for Wednesday meals and participating in her Sunday School Class. She moved to Charlotte and lived for a time with her sister and brother in law. She continued to work in banking and became a second mother to her nephews.

She went back to Lumberton to care for her mother and later in life, when she had a knee replacement, she returned to Charlotte to live with her sister. Myrtle was an amazing, loving woman who enjoyed many things in life. Growing up on a farm, she was content to sit back and shell a bowl of peas in addition to loving to cook.

Her fried chicken was always popular and if she knew you were stopping by, she was always prepared for your arrival. Myrtle was always meticulous and prepared. Everything had a place and everything was in its place.

Time with Myrtle was always memorable and full of joy and laughter. Most of all, Myrtle loved the time spent with family and friends and she will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Myrtle is survived by her sister, Mathie Patterson of Matthews; nephews: Benny Patterson of Charlotte, Samuel (wife Angela) Patterson of Matthews and Wayne (wife Trina) Patterson of Harrisburg, NC.

She is further survived by numerous great nieces, great nephews, great great nephews, a great great niece, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother in law, Lloyd Patterson. Myrtle’s family has given the family of Lowe-Neddo Funeral Home the privilege of caring for her and for them.
