Obituary for Esther Lorraine Mullis Esther Lorraine Mullis, 72, of Monroe, died Saturday, September 8, 2018, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. Lorraine was born in Union County, NC, on July 29, 1946, the daughter of Mack and Estelle Garrison Trull. She worked as an in home caregiver most of her life but was a hot tar roofer on the only female roofing crew in Union County.

On December 16, 2013, she married Barry Griffith. Lorraine enjoyed many things in life including cooking, baking, tending to her flower beds, fishing, music (especially bluegrass) and completing puzzles, including crossword and jigsaw varieties. Most of all, Lorraine loved people and the time she spent with family and friends.

She will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Lorraine is survived by her husband, Barry; a son, George “Eddie” Mullis (Shirley Hopkins) of Polkton; two grandchildren: Lauren and Emily; and two great grandchildren: Gianni and Donovan. Lorraine is further survived by numerous other family and friends.

Lorraine’s family has given the family of Lowe-Neddo Funeral Home the privilege of caring for them. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 pm on Tuesday, September 11, 2018, at the funeral home, 4715 Margaret Wallace Road, Matthews, NC 28105. Graveside committal services will be held at 2 pm on Thursday, September 13, 2018, in the mausoleum chapel of Sunset Memory Gardens, 8901 Lawyers Road, Charlotte, NC 28227.
