Obituary for Pastor Robert Benjamin Shortt Evangelist Pastor Robert Benjamin Shortt, age 83, of Raven, VA, passed away Thursday, January 10, 2019 at his home following a lengthy illness. Mr. Shortt was born in Red Ash, VA and was the son of the late Archie Ralph and Pearl Marie Newberry Shortt. He had been an evangelist pastor since 1972, serving as evangelist pastor of Echoes from the Past the Voice of Healing and Deliverance.
He was the owner and operator of Shortts Garage in Richlands, VA which he established in 1980. Mr. Shortt was a lifelong resident of the area. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Mark Hammond; brother, Elmer Sydney Shortt; and son-in-law, Michael Tuggle.
He is survived by: Wife, Lula Bell Stevens Shortt Daughters: Joan Shortt Tuggle of Raven, VA Sandra Shortt Dowdy and husband, Larry of Raven, VA Garnie Jean Shortt Thomas of Richlands, VA Grandchildren: Patrick Lee Counts and Carrie Osborne; Joshua Shane Hammond and wife, Mandi Dawn; Aubert Ray Mitchell and wife, Malley; Angela Denise Hamilton; Melissa Cantrell and husband, Glenn Great Grandchildren: Hannah Emilee Taylor and husband, Will; Aysia Jayd Hammond; Aubrum Kayne Hammond; Gavin Counts; Lori Jean Mitchell; Christopher Ryan Bailey; Jacob Hamilton; Jadlyn Anderson; MaKenna Cantrell; MaKayla Cantrell Great Great-Grandson, Willard Emerson Taylor, IV Also surviving are many spiritual sons and daughters, along with a host of family and friends. Funeral services for Evangelist Pastor Robert Benjamin Shortt will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Sunday, January 13, 2019 at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands, VA with Bobby Keen and Larry Chafins officiating. Interment will follow at Clinch Valley Memorial Cemetery in Richlands, VA.
Pallbearers will be: Larry Dowdy, Patrick Counts, Joshua Hammond, Ray Mitchell, Nate Parsons, Glenn Cantrell, Terry Price, C.A. Hess. Honorary pallbearers will be: Rex Parsons, Roger Griffith and Edgar Mullins. The Shortt family will receive friends from 6-9 pm on Saturday evening at the funeral home.
