Obituary for Peter Michael Belaire On the morning of September 23rd, Peter Michael Belaire went home to his heavenly father at the age of 68. Pete passed away surrounded by his loving family, after battling cancer for 15 years. Pete is preceded in death by his mother, Edna (Wakkala) Belaire, his father, John L. Belaire, his brother, David J. Belaire, and his nephew, Ryan D. Housner.

Pete is survived by his wife of 46 years, Deborah (Housner) Belaire, daughter, Marsha (Fadi) Abro, son, Michael (Candice) Belaire, and granddaughter, Madalynn Belaire. He is also survived by his brother, Dennis P. (Marian) Belaire, sister, Suzanne M. Belaire, brother-in-law, Forest (Debbie) Housner, and many loving nieces and nephews. In 1968, Pete enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and subsequently served in the Vietnam War.

He served as a Communications Center Man. He returned home in 1970 and was stationed in Norfolk, VA until 1971. Pete was a Statistical Engineer with degrees from the University of Michigan and Oakland University.

He retired from Ford Motor Company in 2000 after 32 years of service. Pete participated and volunteered in many veteran organizations, holding several administrative offices. These organizations included the Vietnam Vets, VFW, Honor Guard, Marine Corps League, American Legion, among others.

In addition, he volunteered weekly at the VA hospital and devoted much of his time to the support of injured veterans. His advocation was photography, documenting family events and vacations. He enjoyed photographing unique birds all around Michigan.

Additionally, he had a passion for genealogy research, tracking both his and Deborah’s ancestry back to the early 1400s.
