Ray F. Wenzel, 90, of Bettendorf, passed away on Sunday, October 21, 2018 at the Kahl Home in Davenport. Per his wishes, there will be no services or visitation and burial will be in Rock Island National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. Ray was born April 3, 1928 in Guthrie County, Iowa, the son of Otto & Elsie Mae (Early) Wenzel.

He was a graduate of Panora High School and had proudly served in the United States Navy from 1946 to 1948. He was united in marriage to former spouse Mary Lou Wood in 1948 and they had 2 children. She preceded him in death in 1996.

Ray was an auto mechanic, sewing machine repairman, Singer Sewing store manager and then owned and operated the Davenport Sewing Center for many years. He enjoyed playing cards, telling jokes and having a beer with his buddies. Those left to honor his memory include his daughter, Kathy Parker of Bettendorf; his son, Ken (Jan) Wenzel of Mesa, Arizona; his grandchildren, Travis Wenzel, Jodi Wenzel, Justin Parker and Danielle Parker; his great-grandchildren, Kylie Parker, Braydon Parker, Garrison Parker and Gracelyn Parker; his sister, Nyla Knowlton of Stuart, Iowa and a special friend Rosie Hunt.
