Reitzel Thaddeus Hedgecock of Kernersville, NC departed this life to go home to be with the Lord Wednesday April 25, 2018. He was born May 22, 1928 in Guilford County to the late Rosa Anna Glascoe and Ray Reitzel. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his first wife Pauline C. Davenport, who died December 16, 1994; four sisters and three brothers.

Reitzel retired from Henredon Furniture where he worked as a saw operator. He was ended his working career with Bojangles on North Main Street in High Point. He was a devoted dog lover and raised many kinds of dogs during his retirement.

His favorite was a red dachshund named Joe. On October 7, 1995, he married Janice A. Carmichael who survives of the home. Also surviving are two step-daughters, Ms. Melissa Hyatt of Kernersville, NC and Mrs. Cynthia Taylor (James) of Salisbury, NC; step-son, Staff Sergeant Andrew Chapel (Soyoung Kim) of Fishers, IN; ten grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews.

Burial will be in Abbotts Creek Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery. At his request, there will be no funeral service. The family requests that memorial contributions be directed to Hospice of the Piedmont, 1801 Westchester Dr., High Point, NC or to your local animal shelter.
