Obituary for Richard B. “Dick” Fredrickson Richard B. “Dick” Fredrickson, 92, of Estero, Florida passed away peacefully on Friday, August 30, 2018, at his home in the American House Coconut Point. Formerly of Cincinnati, Ohio, he had been a resident of Estero for the past 22 years. Dick was born May 28, 1926, in Chicago, Illinois, to Hans H. and Ruth (Larson) Fredrickson.

He grew up in Detroit, Michigan. During World War II, Dick graduated from high school at the age of 16, attended Michigan State University and then was called into the U.S. Navy’s V-12 program at the University of Wisconsin. Following graduation he served on active duty until 1946 when he married and began a forty year career with Cincinnati Milacron.

This included several years working in Germany and Japan which, together with a subsequent career representing Krupp Corpoplast, allowed Dick and his wife Kathryn to enjoy extensive worldwide travel. He liked participating with and contributing to his community and enjoyed taking leadership positions in many different organizations during his lifetime. Dick loved the outdoors and shared that joy with friends and family during many summer vacations in the Muskoka region of Ontario, Canada.

In addition to his parents, Dick was preceded in death by his beloved wife Jennie Ann (Matthews) Fredrickson in 1967 and by his beloved wife of 49 years, Kathryn Snider Fredrickson. He is survived by his loving children Swann (Charles VanOrnum) Fredrickson of Bonita Springs, FL; Barbara (Larry) Dunn of St. George, UT; Barbara (Walter) Wierwille of Blacksburg, VA; J. Robert (Jo Anne) Boyd of Cincinnati, OH; 9 grandchildren; 21 great granchildren; and 6 great great grandchildren, all of whom he and Kathryn cherished and adored. A memorial service to celebrate Dick’s life is being planned at First Presbyterian Church and will be announced.

Memorial contributions in his name may be made to First Presbyterian Church, 9751 Bonita Beach Road. , Bonita Springs, FL 34135 or to Hope Hospice, 9470 HealthPark Cir. N., Fort Myers, FL 33908.
