Obituary for Richard Henry Smart Richard “Dick” Henry Smart, 88, of Muskogee, Oklahoma, passed from this life Thursday, November 22, 2018. He was born to George and Marie Smart in Benton Harbor, Michigan on August 30, 1930. Dick graduated from Benton Harbor Schools.

He continued his education at the University of Michigan where he received a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering. He then received his master’s degree in Electrical Engineering at UCLA California. Richard married the love of his life, Gloria Smart, on October 18, 1980 in Palm Desert, California, they spent more than 38 memorable years together.

Dick worked for many years in the aerospace industry where he had many responsibilities managing over different aerospace systems. He later retired from McDonnell Douglas Corp. in 1990, they then moved to Muskogee, OK the following year.

Dick had a love for volunteering, he volunteered at AARP, the Monarch Inc., and CASA. He later served on the Board of Directors at Monarch Inc. and Green Country Behavioral Health Services. Dick was also a loyal member at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.

Dick is preceded in death by his father George Smart; mother Marie Smart; brothers: George Smart and John Smart; and nephew Tommy Smart. He is survived by his wife, Gloria Smart of Muskogee, OK; son Richard “Richie” Smart of Muskogee, OK; brother Edward Smart of St. Joseph, MI; sister-in-laws, Jean Smart, Murial Smart, and Mary Jones; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A celebration of Dick’s life will be 10:00 A.M. Friday, November 30, 2018 at Cornerstone Funeral Home Chapel with Rev.
