(Weikel) Simmons, 70, of Quakertown, formerly of Haycock, PA went home to be with the Lord on Friday, January 4, 2019 at St. Luke’s University Hospital & Health Network, Bethlehem, PA. She was the loving wife of Tony R. Gonzalez for 40 years. Rita was born in Norristown, PA to the late Morris Weikel and Teresa (Detweiler) Bloom.

She was a member of the North Penn Gun Club. Rita was a nature and animal enthusiast. She enjoyed animals, dancing and will be known as a hard-working, compassionate person who was willing to assist anyone who needed help.

In addition to her husband, Tony she is survived by: two daughters, Kim Smondroski her husband Mark of Audubon, PA and Amy M. Simmons of Quakertown, PA; a son, Sean Simmons his wife Chrissy of Philadelphia, PA; four grandchildren, Amber, Gavin, Emma and Dillon, two brothers, Michael Weikel and Kenneth Weikel both of Norristown, PA; three sisters, Bonnie Buckwalter of Stroudsburg, PA, Terri Weikel of Norristown, PA and Ann Jacobs and her husband Ernie of Elverson, PA. She was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Weikel. At Rita’s request there will be no formal service.
