Homer Louis Hefner, 88, of Birch Lane Jane Lew passed away at 6:24 a.m. on Friday, June 1, 2018 in the comfort of his home under the compassionate care of People’s Hospice. He was born in Weston on August 14, 1929 a son of the late John Richard Hefner and Mary Ann Batten Hefner. On December 28, 1951 he married Evelyn Justine Hite, who will dearly miss him after 66 years of marriage.

They were like two peas in a pod, who did everything together and enjoyed each other’s company. His kind, hard-working nature will be carried on by his four children: John Hefner of Gee Lick Rd. Weston, Justine R. Lamb of Sauls Run, Weston, Gregory Hefner and wife, Karen, of Salem, and Kevin Hefner and wife, Tammy, of Jane Lew; seven grandchildren: Louis Byrd, Jeremy Hefner, Chanda Kelley, Chad Lamb, Kevin Hefner Jr., Joshua Hefner, and Mandy Wilkinson; seven great grandchildren: Sophia, Thalin, Caden, Maddyson, Kyleigh, Jericho, and Archer; one sister Rosemary Montgomery of Weston; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one son, Homer Hefner Jr,; and three brothers: James, Eugene, and Gary Hefner. Homer worked as a glass blower for WV Glass for 35 years, and after they closed, he worked in maintenance for Citizen’s Bank for many years. He enjoyed mowing his yard with his John Deere tractor, fishing, boating, and camping with family and friends.

They especially enjoyed spending time at Sutton Lake. Friends and family will gather at the Pat Boyle Funeral Home and Cremation Service at 144 Hackers Creek Rd. in Jane Lew from 4-7p.m. on Monday, June 4, 2018.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday from the Pat Boyle Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Dave Riddle officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Garden in Jane Lew. The Pat Boyle Funeral Home and Cremation Service is honored and privileged to serve the family of Homer Louis Hefner.
