Robert “Bobby” Vogel December 05, 1941 – January 14, 2019 Share this obituary Upload Photo| View/Sign Guest Book| Send Private Condolences Robert (Bobby) Joe Vogel of New Braunfels, Texas passed peacefully into the hands of his Lord on January 14, 2019. He was born to Emil A. and Adela Marie (Kruse) Vogel on December 5, 1941 in New Braunfels. Bobby was a member of Mission Valley Bowling Club, Solms Bowling Club as well as Freiheit Bowling Club.

In addition to bowling, he loved to fish! But his favorite pastime was to watch each & every sports game on television, football being his favorite. As a younger man, Bobby worked for H.E.B. then pursued his lifetime career working for the State Highway Department with the maintenance crew.

You might have seen him on the tractor mowing the right of ways at some time during his career! Upon retirement from the state, he created relationships with many in which he mowed & maintained their yards. He enjoyed being outside and continued with as many as 32 customers up until the age of 73.

Bobby made many acquaintances while having his routine breakfast @ Hanna’s and then following up with an afternoon ice cream @ Dairy Queen. Workers would express how he did not shy away from telling how important it was to save money for tomorrow & live wisely. Bobby’s greatest joy in recent years was being “PeePaw” to Landra and Jayden, his precious grandchildren.

He most enjoyed picking them up from school and taking them out for ice cream, creating lasting memories. Bobby was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his daughter, Suzanne Vogel of New Braunfels, TX; his son, Ronald “Ronnie” Vogel of New Braunfels, TX; two grandchildren, Landra Cowen and Jayden Johns; a sister, Rose Marie Moore & husband Charles of Canyon Lake, TX; a niece, Charlene Link & husband Steven of New Braunfels, TX; a nephew, Kenneth Moore of Canyon Lake, TX; three great-nephews, Justin Coppedge & wife Britney, Jacob Coppedge & wife Brandy, and Hunter Moore; and numerous other family and friends.

A visitation will be held at Doeppenschmidt Funeral Home in New Braunfels on Friday, January 18, from 6:00~8:00 PM. Funerals services will be at 10:00 AM on Saturday, January 19, at Doeppenschmidt Funeral Home in New Braunfels with burial following at Sts. Peter & Paul Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Coastal Conservation Association (CCA), 6919 Portwest Drive, Suite 100, Houston, TX 77024.
