Robert H. “Cotton” Collins October 24, 1931 – January 27, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers Sign Guestbook| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card October 24, 1931 January 27, 2019 Byron- Robert H. “Cotton” Collins, 87, passed away on the morning of Sunday, January 27, 2019. Services will be held at 11:00AM on Friday, February 1, 2019, at Glenwood Hills Baptist Church, 3225 Rice Mill Road, Macon, with Dr. Otis Andrews officiating. Family will receive friends one hour prior to service at the church.

Graveside service will immediately follow at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made in honor of Robert to Glenwood Hills Baptist Church. Mr. Collins retired from Robins Air Force Base after 35 years of service and Zantop after 18 years, working both jobs simultaneously for many years.

He enjoyed tinkering with his hands, traveling to the North Georgia mountains and staying busy after retirement. He was a long time member of Glenwood Hills Baptist Church and the Mickey Fuller Masonic Lodge. Robert was born in Bleckley County to the late Oscar and Alma Collins.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Joyce Barlow Collins, daughter, Barbara Joyce Allen, brothers, J. W. Collins and Carlos Collins, and a sister, Kate Knight. Survivors include his wife of 10 years, Wynell Smallwood Collins; daughters, Sharon Doubt (Rick) of Tennessee, Amy Cheek (Al) of Byron, and Nikki Mullis of Macon; brothers, Wyndell Collins (Judy) and Otha Collins (Sue Ellen); sister, LaVerne Tison; and a host of several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other family members. Rooks Funeral Home in Byron is in charge of arrangements.
